USA made 1/2" internal oil pickups which are designed specifically for stroker engines.

For years, we have been using the standard type universally available oil pickups which were originally designed for stock engines. While they work great for their intended use, the raging popularity of stroker engines over the last few years has made it necessary to usually perform modifications to the standard pickups to make them work in stroker applications. There are two areas where we found modifications were usually required, and those are the areas we have worked to change as much as possible on these new stroker pickups. The first area is the "collar" right below the threads where the pickup will screw into the block. On the standard style pickups, there is a larger diameter collar which is welded onto the tubing of the oil pickup. In a stroker engine, the increased stroke of the crankshaft will position the rods further away from the crank centerline, and cause them to swing closer to the internal oil pickup. On some engines (especially larger strokes), we found that the larger diameter of the collar will sometimes interfere with the heads of the rod bolts as they make larger revolutions in a stroker engine. In our stroker pickups, we've made them out of actual 1/2" threaded pipe so the diameter of the tubing is almost exactly equal to the diameter of the threads, giving the absolute maximum amount of clearance available. The other change we've made is how the pickup tube itself is bent. In the center of the tube, you can see there are two bends which cause the pickup to have a bit of an "S" shape to it. In the standard style pickups, the center part of this "S" shape is designed to locate directly underneath a stock windage tray. In stroker engines, stock windage trays don't work because the rods and/or rod bolts will come into contact with them during the larger revolutions. So the solution is to use a "stroker" windage tray, which is actually made deeper so it clears the rod bolts. The problem we found, is that once you make the tray deeper, it now wants to occupy the same space as the pickup. In the past, it was necessary to either cut, bend and reweld the pickup, or modify (cut) the windage tray to go around the pickup. In our new stroker pickups, although it's hard to tell just from looking at the picture, we've changed the profile of the "S" bend, and we've moved the bend "down" farther towards the screen of the pickup so it's out of the way of the windage tray. But that's not all we've done. These days bottom end girdle kits are all the rage. When you put a girdle plate underneath the windage tray, it drops it down even more by whatever the thickness of the girdle is (usually 1/4".) So, we've even designed and tested these pickups to work with not just our stroker windage tray, but also a main stud girdle AND our stroker windage tray together.

Because all performance engines are put together with aftermarket parts, and every engine is slightly different, of course we can't absolutely guarantee that these will be a 100% bolt in deal for everyone's engine, but they're a heck of a lot better than the options that were previously available.

These are designed for 7" deep (7 quart) center sump pan, such as our pan 121-1030. This part number has 1/2" threads for stock type wedge blocks, and we also offer them with the standard 3/8" threads under a different part number.

These are no longer supplied in gold zinc finish as pictured, they will be supplied in plain steel finish.
